A New Muppet Movie
You know how there have been several movies that were muppetized versions of pre-existing stories? Well, I've got one that I'd like to see made.
The first part of the movie starts out in a small town. We're introduced to the various primary muppet characters, and attentive viewers will realize that, through the magic of archival footage, digital audio remixing, and some very
careful script work, we're actually hearing the original voices for characters whose muppeteers have passed away -- lines from the movies, The Muppet Show, and documentary footage carefully edited into the audio track and lip (hand?) synched to the characters on-screen.
But before long, some of them begin... to change.
They're silently replaced with these new, different versions of themselves. In some cases, it's subtle, but they're definitely different. We gradually stop hearing Jim Henson and begin hearing Brian Henson. Richard Hunt's voice vanishes as well. The other characters begin to notice and wonder what's going on. Could it be related to those strange plants? Piggy becomes hysterical. Gonzo is in denial. Kermit is able to keep the crew under control, preventing them from doing anything too
crazy -- until they realize that he's
one of them now as well...
What can they do? Is there any escape? Can their friends be brought back somehow, or are they lost forever? Is there anyone out there who can help? Would anyone even believe them? Or will they just have to learn to live with what's happened?
If you want to find out, you'll just have to buy a ticket. "Invasion of the Muppet Snatchers" -- coming in the spring of 2007 to a theatre near you.
